Our Trustee Training programme.

These sessions provide detailed training on a number of important topics: owning, managing and occupying property assets, managing staff and volunteers within a charity, charity mergers and collaborations, managing cash and investments – stage two and charity fundraising and raising of finance.

The programme enables you to pick and choose the courses most pertinent to you. Many of the courses will also be useful for charity chief executives, finance directors and other members of the senior management team.

All of our sessions will present delegates with an opportunity to network.

Training Courses for Charity Trustees

Part 1

The course series will be covering: What every Trustee should know, Identifying and managing risks in a charity, Charity law update, Managing cash and investments and Introduction to charity finance and reporting.

Trustees have the ultimate responsibility for running charities and therefore must ensure that the charity is well run by appropriate and qualified individuals. In this session our specialists will consider the basics of, and recent developments in, the following areas:

Employees: their rights and remedies on recruitment, in employment and upon dismissal
Volunteers and how to avoid them becoming employees
TUPE arrangements, including outsourcing
Payroll and PAYE
Pension arrangements

The duties and responsibilities of trustees in relation to fundraising
Recent statistics and tactics when approaching potential donors
The use of language in fundraising literature and the consequences for financial reporting
Grants v contracts
social investment, loans and overdraft facilities
Fundraising from individual donors: Gift Aid, legacies and public charitable collections
Sponsorship and commercial partnerships
Other forms of fundraising (e.g. lotteries and events)
